You want to have a deep dive and also stay longer down

PADI Deep Diver Course – extend your range to 40m
During your Advanced course you experienced already a deep dive to 30m. With this course we go further to the recreational diving depth limitation of 40m (131 feet). Such deep dives involve more risks, but also more excitement. Nothing beats looking up to the surface from a depth of 40m in crystal clear water, that is a stunning view and a feeling everyone should experience. All dedicated divers need this specialty, because it is a requirement for further diving programs.
PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Course – extend your bottom time
This specialty course is, exactly like the deep diver specialty, a must have for all dedicated divers. With these 2 specialties you are allowed to dive all dive sites around the world within the recreational diving limits. For example there are dive sites just starting in 25m and reaching down to 40m, without using Nitrox, there is not enough bottom time. Dive shops require that the whole group dives with enriched air. So get this license to be ready to explore the world.

Deep Dive
As a deep diver you extend your range to the maximum of the recreational diving limit of 40m. In this depth you have not much bottom time, to be precise your dive computer will give you 8 minutes in this depth, when you check your planning mode. Being an Enriched Air Nitrox diver extend your bottom time to 12 minutes in 40m by choosing a Nitrox 28 percent gas. Sounds not like much, but your overall time spending in the depth will be increased, compared to a diver using just normal air.
At dive sites like the shipwreck USS Emmons you will feel the difference. Every second you can stay longer at this stunning 106m shipwreck will feel precious. When you use air and reach close to your maximum allowed bottom time, then you have to go up to the shallower areas. With nitrox you have more buffer. So you can gradually going a little bit shallower, where you can still explore the top parts of the shipwreck in 33m, while the air diver is already on the way to the safety stop zone.
Nitrox
That is why I prefer to teach both courses as a bundle, where we dive from shore to a deep wall style reef in Cape Manza on the first day and the USS Emmons on the second day. The PADI Enriched Air Nitrox course requires no dives for certification. It is called a dry course, just theoretical knowledge. The PADI Deep Diver course needs 4 dives for completion, but you did already your first deep dive during your Advanced Open Water course, what is a prerequisite.
Here at LIVE FOR DIVING the deep dives can be stretched over 2 days. There are shops offering a deep diver course with 3 dives in one day. That is too much deep diving within a short amount of time. Both specialties can be taught also separately, but your best choice is both as a bundle, then we can dive the Emmons with nitrox, so we can experience the depth longer during the course.
